While ocean health is vital to our survival as a species, Art is an investment in humanity’s spiritual wellbeing. Engaging the arts—as an observer or participant—helps people imagine the possible and seemingly impossible; to find ways to articulate their feelings about what’s happening internally and around them. The purpose of Blue Ocean’s Artist’s program is to engage artists in doing just that: helping visually articulate humanity’s relationship with our changing sea.
Every day we make choices that affect our lives and the world around us. We believe that lasting solutions can’t be demanded; they must be inspired. And, one could argue, inspiration is the language of Art. Through Blue Ocean’s Artist’s program, we provide select artists and filmmakers a forum to explore and pursue the essence and importance of our ocean and environment through creative expression.

Blue Ocean Institute is also working with ARKive in supporting their mission of promoting the conservation of the world's threatened species through the power of wildlife imagery. With the help of the world's best filmmakers, photographers, conservationists and scientists, ARKive.org is the ultimate multimedia guide to what thousands of endangered species look like, how they behave, and what makes them special.
